This Privacy Policy explains what information Points Capital (pointscapitaltravel.com, “we,” “us”) collects when you visit our site, how we use it, and the choices you have. Points Capital is operated by RPL Logistics in Wisconsin, United States. The site is hosted on WordPress.com, a service of Automattic Inc.

Information we collect

  • Information you give us. If you use our contact form or Reader Questions form, we collect your name, email address and message. If you leave a comment, we collect your name, email address, website (if you provide one) and comment text. If you subscribe by email, we collect your email address.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our host and its tools collect technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, referring site and the date and time of your visit. We use WordPress.com and Jetpack site statistics to see which posts are popular. We don’t use this information to identify you personally.
  • Cookies. Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Our site and WordPress.com use cookies to keep the site working, remember your preferences (such as your cookie choice and comment details), measure traffic and prevent spam. See “Cookies and your choices” below.

How we use your information

  • To reply to your messages and reader questions
  • To publish and moderate comments
  • To send newsletters or post notifications you signed up for
  • To understand how readers use the site so we can improve it
  • To keep the site secure and block spam (comments may be checked by Automattic’s Akismet spam service)

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, except as described in the Advertising section below if we run ads.

Who we share information with

  • Our hosting provider. WordPress.com (Automattic) stores site data and processes it to run the site, including forms, comments, subscriptions and statistics. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Referral links and other websites

Some posts contain our personal referral links for credit cards and travel products (see our Advertising & Referral Disclosure). When you click one, you leave our site. The bank or company you visit may use cookies and collect information under its own privacy policy, which we don’t control. We don’t receive your application details; at most, the issuer tells us that a referral was approved.

Advertising

We may show ads on this site in the future, for example through Google AdSense or WordPress.com WordAds. If we do:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.

We’ll update this section with the specific ad providers we use before ads go live.

Cookies and your choices

When you first visit, a banner tells you that this site uses cookies. You can also control cookies yourself: most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, and many offer private browsing modes. Blocking some cookies may stop parts of the site, like comments or forms, from working properly. You can also use a browser setting such as Global Privacy Control to signal that you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and we will honor it where the law requires.

How long we keep information

We keep contact form messages only as long as we need them to respond and follow up. Comments stay on the site until they’re deleted. Email subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Statistics are kept by our host according to its own retention schedule.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have about you and get a copy
  • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, or of targeted advertising
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent you gave earlier
  • Not be treated differently for using these rights

EEA, UK and Switzerland: We process personal information based on your consent (for example, non-essential cookies and newsletters), to respond to requests you make (contact forms), and for our legitimate interests in running and securing the site. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Because our site is hosted in the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

California and other U.S. states: Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws can use the rights above. We do not sell personal information, and we don’t knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16.

To make a request, contact us through our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.

Children’s privacy

This site is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes, for example when we add advertising. We’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top when we do.
