SIXT keeps adding U.S. airports. On September 2, 2026, the company announced branches at Dallas Love Field (DAL) and Boise Airport (BOI). Boise is SIXT’s first location in Idaho. On October 9, SIXT also announced that it won “Best Car Rental & Mobility Innovation” at the 2026 Frequent Traveler Awards and placed No. 2 among car rental brands in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards. If you fly into Love Field or travel around the Mountain West, you now have one more rental option worth checking.

What happened

SIXT’s September 2 release says the two openings bring its network to 58 U.S. airport locations. The company counts more than 130 rental branches in 28 states. Business Travel News reported the same figures the next day. Here are the two new branches, as of October 2026:

Boise Airport’s new Rental Car Center opened on September 1, 2026, according to Idaho News. The $107 million facility includes a seven-story garage and a covered walkway to the terminal. That report doesn’t name the rental companies inside, but SIXT’s release places its Boise branch there.

According to SIXT, it now has five airport locations and seven off-airport branches in Texas. Its release also mentions recent airport openings at Reno-Tahoe and Palm Springs. Separately, SIXT added two Manhattan locations (Chelsea and the Upper East Side) in April 2026.

Who it affects

Love Field is Dallas’s close-in airport. If you fly there instead of DFW, you can now rent from SIXT without changing airports. In Boise, SIXT adds another choice at an airport that SIXT says set a passenger record in 2025, with more than 5.2 million travelers. Boise is also a common starting point for road trips into Idaho’s mountains.

What it means for points and status

More SIXT airports make SIXT’s two earning options more useful:

  • SIXT ONE. This is SIXT’s own rewards program, launched in the U.S. in March 2026. SIXT said it passed 1 million U.S. members in August. Depending on your status tier, SIXT advertises instant savings of up to 20%, counter skipping, faster points earning, complimentary upgrades and rewards you can redeem on qualifying rentals. Joining is free through the SIXT app, and you need to book directly with SIXT.
  • American AAdvantage miles. SIXT announced an AAdvantage partnership in July 2026. SIXT’s partner terms say you earn 2 miles per dollar on the base rental rate, not on taxes, insurance or fees, when you add your AAdvantage number at booking. Some blogs say these miles should also count as Loyalty Points toward AAdvantage status. We couldn’t confirm that on an official American or SIXT page, so check your account after the miles post. SIXT says that typically takes 6 to 8 weeks.

One caution: AwardWallet reports that you generally can’t earn SIXT ONE points and AAdvantage miles on the same rental. Before you book, decide which one you’d rather collect.

Practical tips

  • Check the hours. SIXT’s Love Field page lists late-night hours and key drop boxes for very early returns. Hours can change, so look at the branch page before an early flight.
  • Leave time for the shuttle at DAL. You reach SIXT’s Love Field branch by shuttle, so build the wait and ride into your return time.
  • Read the AAdvantage exclusions. SIXT’s terms leave out van and truck rentals, rentals of 28 days or longer, voucher-paid and insurance-replacement rentals, rentals under $25 and bookings made through associations such as auto clubs. You can claim missing miles for up to 6 months after the rental.
  • Compare prices across brands. A new branch doesn’t automatically mean lower prices. Check SIXT against the other companies at DAL and BOI for your dates.

Our take

This isn’t big news on its own, but it fits a pattern: SIXT keeps building out in the U.S. SIXT ONE now has a broad member base, AAdvantage earning is live, and SIXT is at 58 airports. That makes SIXT more practical as a regular choice, not just on the occasional trip where it happens to be cheapest. The downsides are the shuttle ride at Love Field and the usual rental-car fine print. With 130-plus branches, SIXT still won’t be at every airport or town you visit. If you collect AAdvantage miles or are working toward SIXT ONE status, it’s worth getting a SIXT quote next time you fly into Dallas Love Field or Boise.
