JetBlue just laid out what Mosaic status looks like in 2027, and the headline is a good one: every Mosaic level will be eligible for free space-available upgrades to BlueFirst, its new domestic first class. There’s a catch or two, though, and some perks are getting cut.
What JetBlue announced
In a press release dated October 22, 2026, JetBlue said the changes to TrueBlue and Mosaic take effect February 1, 2027. The full rules sit on a “Mosaic Changes for 2027” page on jetblue.com. Here are the parts that matter most (as of October 2026):
- Free BlueFirst upgrades for all Mosaics. Mosaic 1 through 4 members, plus one companion on the same reservation, get added to the upgrade list at check-in when a BlueFirst seat is open. JetBlue says these start once its first BlueFirst-equipped aircraft is flying, and it doesn’t give a firm date.
- Fare exclusions. Main Base and EvenMore Base fares aren’t eligible for upgrades or certificates.
- Premier Card holders can get upgrades too, but only when they pay for an eligible fare with the JetBlue Premier Card.
- Premium Upgrade Certificates (the new name for Move to Mint) now work for BlueFirst as well as Mint, subject to availability. Mosaic 2 members can choose one through Perks You Pick starting February 1, 2027. Mosaic 3 and 4 get them as a standard perk, and Mosaic 4 members can earn more for every 100 additional Tiles.
- Perks You Pick gets more flexible. You can pick the same favorite perk again at later milestones, and you get 60 days after each milestone to choose. Point bonuses run 10,000 at Mosaic 1 and 2, 20,000 at Mosaic 3 and 30,000 at Mosaic 4. Mosaic 4 members can also gift Mosaic 3 status or a year of BlueHouse lounge membership.
- New Premier Card extras. Primary cardmembers who reach Mosaic 3 can get a statement credit of up to $500 toward a companion’s base fare booked with the card, rising to up to $1,500 at Mosaic 4. Taxes and fees aren’t covered. Mosaic 3 and 4 cardmembers also earn 5x points at eligible grocery stores and restaurants, on up to $50,000 in combined purchases per calendar year.
- Pet fee waiver moves up. It becomes a built-in Mosaic 2 perk instead of something you have to pick.
JetBlue’s page lists the Mosaic thresholds as 50, 100, 150 and 250 Tiles for Mosaic 1 through 4.
What’s going away
This is the part the press release doesn’t lead with. According to JetBlue’s terms page, these options are leaving the Mosaic menu: Mint Suite priority, the $99 statement credit with select JetBlue cards, FoundersCard membership and IHG hotel status. If you were planning to pick one of those, JetBlue says retired perks can still be selected and used through January 31, 2027.
Who this affects and what to do
- Mosaic 1 and 2 members come out ahead. You’ll be on a free upgrade list you didn’t have before.
- Anyone eyeing FoundersCard, IHG status or the $99 credit should grab it before January 31, 2027 if it’s still available to you.
- Premier Card holders chasing Mosaic 3 or 4 should do the companion-credit math. Up to $1,500 back on a companion’s fare is real money if you actually travel with someone.
- Everyone: if you want upgrades, skip Main Base and EvenMore Base fares.
Our take
We think this is a net win for most Mosaic members, especially at the lower tiers. Here’s why: a free upgrade list open to every level, with a companion included, is the kind of perk that makes status feel worth chasing.
Now the skeptical part. Upgrades are only as good as the number of empty seats up front, and BlueFirst is brand new. JetBlue itself says BlueFirst may only be available on select flights or dates at first. With a small cabin and every Mosaic plus a companion competing, lower-tier members may not clear often. We’d wait and see how often upgrades actually come through before buying a fare just for the chance.
And losing FoundersCard and IHG status will sting for the folks who used them. Honestly, this only feels like a clean upgrade if you fly JetBlue routes where BlueFirst shows up often. If your flights are mostly on routes that won’t get it anytime soon, you’re giving up some flexible perks for an upgrade you may rarely see.
The upgrade start date isn’t set yet, so check JetBlue’s page again before February.
