Summerfest, Milwaukee’s lakefront music festival, has confirmed its 2027 dates, and the first headliners are already on sale. If you want a summer weekend in Milwaukee next year, now is a good time to pick your weekend and start watching hotel prices. Here’s what the organizer has announced as of October 2026, and what it hasn’t.
Summerfest 2027 dates
Milwaukee World Festival, the nonprofit that runs Summerfest, announced in July 2026 that the 2027 festival will take place over three weekends:
| Weekend | Dates |
|---|---|
| Weekend 1 | Thu.–Sat., June 24–26, 2027 |
| Weekend 2 | Thu.–Sat., July 1–3, 2027 |
| Weekend 3 | Thu.–Sat., July 8–10, 2027 |
That’s about a week later than 2026, when the festival ran June 18 through July 4. The organizer says it periodically adjusts dates as the calendar shifts, to keep Summerfest and the lakefront cultural festivals close to their usual timeframes. The festival is held at Henry Maier Festival Park on Lake Michigan, just east of downtown and the Historic Third Ward.
For a sense of scale: Summerfest says 2026 drew 613,475 fans over its three-week run, and 48% of ticket buyers came from outside Wisconsin.
Headliners announced so far (as of October 2026)
- Zac Brown Band, Friday, June 25, 2027, American Family Insurance Amphitheater. This was the first 2027 headliner, announced in September; tickets went on sale Sept. 11, 2026.
- Foreigner, Friday, July 2, 2027, BMO Pavilion (reserved seats), part of the band’s 50th-anniversary tour. Reserved seats went on sale Oct. 16, 2026.
Both are listed on Summerfest’s own site with ticket links. The rest of the lineup, including the free-with-admission side stages, hasn’t been announced yet. We’ll update readers as more names are confirmed.
Tickets: what’s known
- Amphitheater tickets include festival admission on the day of the show, according to Summerfest’s ticket page. Regular festival tickets do not get you into amphitheater shows.
- Festival passes: the ticket page lists a 9-Day Power Pass, a 3-Day Pass and single-day general admission, but no 2027 prices yet. Hotel-and-ticket packages are marked “coming soon.”
- Seniors and kids: the ticket page lists a $22 senior ticket (62+) and a $7 child ticket (ages 6–11), sold only at the gate windows, with kids 5 and under free. The page mixes 2026 and 2027 references, so treat those prices as provisional.
Getting there
From Chicago: Amtrak’s Hiawatha connects Chicago Union Station with Milwaukee’s downtown Intermodal Station in about 1.5 hours, and Summerfest lists it among its travel options. From the station, a rideshare or local transit gets you to the lakefront.
By air: Milwaukee Mitchell (MKE) has nonstops on Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Sun Country and United. Southwest has a big presence there.
Around town (based on Summerfest’s 2026 getting-here page): The Hop streetcar is free and stops in the Third Ward and at the Lakefront. MCTS ran Summerfest shuttles about every 15 minutes from free park-and-ride lots ($18 round trip for ages 12+), and the CONNECT 1 bus stopped near the North Gate ($2.75). Rideshare pickups were outside the North Gate. Drivers are told to use downtown parking structures rather than the lakefront exit, and lots near the amphitheater fill early. Expect 2027 details closer to the festival.
Where to stay on points
- Kimpton Journeyman Hotel (IHG One Rewards), 310 E. Chicago St., in the Historic Third Ward. It’s the closest of these to the festival grounds, and the free Hop streetcar stops in the neighborhood.
- The Westin Milwaukee (Marriott Bonvoy), in East Town, close to the lakefront and the CONNECT 1 bus line.
- Hyatt Regency Milwaukee (World of Hyatt), 333 W. Kilbourn Ave., downtown. It’s farther from the grounds, but worth pricing since Hyatt switched to a new award chart in May 2026.
Marriott and IHG price award nights dynamically, and festival weekends are peak dates, so consider booking a refundable rate early and rechecking points prices as the lineup fills in. Our Milwaukee on points guide covers these hotels in more detail.
Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer to World of Hyatt, IHG One Rewards and Southwest, so one currency can cover both the flight and the hotel for a Summerfest weekend. You can compare current Sapphire offers and apply with our Chase referral link.

Our take
Pick your weekend before you pick your band. Only two headliners are confirmed so far, and the rest of the lineup will be announced over the coming months, but the dates are set. A refundable hotel booking now locks in a room without locking you in. If you’re coming from Chicago, the Hiawatha plus the free streetcar means you can skip parking entirely. And note the new dates: 2027’s three weekends run about a week later than 2026’s, ending July 10 instead of July 4.
