Points Capital — October 22, 2026
Capital One launched a new transfer bonus yesterday: move Capital One miles to Virgin Red and you’ll get 30% more, turning the usual 1:1 ratio into 1:1.3. The offer runs through November 20, 2026. Because Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club share one currency (Virgin Points), the bonus works equally for Flying Club flight awards and for Virgin Red’s cruise, hotel and lifestyle redemptions.
The details
- Bonus: 30% (1,000 Capital One miles → 1,300 Virgin Points)
- Ends: November 20, 2026
- Minimum transfer: 1,000 miles, then in 100-mile increments after that — handy for topping up to an exact award price rather than over-transferring
- Posting: Bonus points typically land within about 24 hours
- Eligible cards: Any Capital One card that earns transferable miles — Venture X, Venture, Venture X Business, Spark Miles and the like
- Setup note: You transfer into Virgin Red, not directly into Flying Club. You’ll need a Virgin Red account, and if you already have a Flying Club number, link the two so the balance shows up on the airline side
Where 30% actually matters
Virgin Points have a few sweet spots that get noticeably cheaper at 1:1.3:
- Short Delta hops. Delta flights of 1,000 miles or less price at 7,500 points each way through Virgin — that’s about 5,800 Capital One miles after the bonus. For a round trip from Milwaukee or Chicago to Atlanta, Detroit, or Minneapolis, that’s a genuine bargain.
- Virgin Atlantic business class to London. Upper Class awards start around 29,000 points one way in off-peak, roughly 22,400 Capital One miles with the bonus. The catch, as always, is Virgin’s surcharges — expect several hundred dollars in taxes and fees on top, and the U.K.-departure side is worse than the U.S.-departure side.
- ANA, Air France/KLM and other partners can be competitive at Virgin’s rates, though availability is the limiting factor.
Our take
This looks like a recurring offer — Capital One ran the same 30% bonus last fall — so there’s no need to treat it as once-in-a-lifetime. Virgin Points don’t expire, which removes some of the urgency, but Virgin has devalued partner awards without notice before. Our rule for every transfer bonus applies here: transfer only when you’ve found award space and are ready to book. Speculative transfers in a program with a history of surprise devaluations are how people end up holding orphaned points.
If you’ve got a Delta short-haul or a London trip on the calendar for the next year, though, this is one of the better ways to spend Capital One miles right now.
