I Prefer Hotel Rewards, the free loyalty program of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is running a double points promotion this fall. If you register and book by October 31, 2026, you can earn double base points on stays of two nights or more completed by December 31, 2026. The booking window is short, so if you already have an independent luxury hotel on your radar for the holidays, now is the time to look.

What the promotion offers

According to the official offer page, registered I Prefer members “receive double base points on qualified stays.” The I Prefer homepage says the offer covers more than 700 participating hotels and resorts. Here are the key terms, as of October 2026:

  • Register and book: October 1 to October 31, 2026.
  • Stay by: December 31, 2026.
  • Minimum stay: Two nights. Frequent Miler describes this as two or more consecutive nights.
  • Membership: You must be an I Prefer member and register for the offer. Joining is free.
  • Exclusions: Stays completed before you register don’t qualify. Reservations made before the promotion period also don’t qualify, even if the stay falls within the promotion dates.

The offer page refers to “select stays” and “qualified stays” but doesn’t define eligible rates or say whether there’s a cap on bonus points. For those details, it points you to the I Prefer program terms.

How much could you earn?

I Prefer’s membership page says entry-level Silver members earn 10 points per US dollar spent on eligible stays. Elite tiers are based on points earned: Gold starts at 25,000 points and earns an extra 20% bonus per stay, and Titanium starts at 50,000 points and earns an extra 50%.

For a Silver member, doubling base points means roughly 20 points per eligible dollar instead of 10. As an illustration, a two-night stay with $800 in eligible spend would earn about 8,000 base points plus about 8,000 bonus points. What counts as eligible spend is set by the program terms, so treat this as a rough estimate. The offer page doesn’t explain exactly how the double points interact with the Gold and Titanium tier bonuses.

What are those points worth? Frequent Miler’s August 2026 analysis put a reasonable redemption value for I Prefer points at about 0.49 cents each. At that value, 16,000 points would be worth roughly $78 in free or discounted nights. That works out to about 10% back on a Silver member’s eligible spend during the promotion, compared with about 5% normally. Your results will depend on which hotel you redeem at.

Who should pay attention, and what to do

  • Register before you book. The safest order is to join I Prefer if needed, register for the offer, then make your reservation by October 31.
  • Booked earlier? Reservations made before the promotion period don’t qualify. If you booked in October before registering, the terms aren’t perfectly clear on whether that stay counts. Ask I Prefer before you assume it does. If you’re on a refundable rate and the price hasn’t changed, rebooking after registering may be an option.
  • Book directly. Since the offer page doesn’t spell out eligible rates, we’d book through Preferred Hotels or I Prefer and read the program terms rather than count on a third-party booking.
  • Stay at least two nights. A one-night stay won’t qualify.

Our take

This is a nice bonus if you were already planning a multi-night stay at a Preferred Hotels property before the end of the year. Doubling your base earnings is a meaningful bump for a free program.

Still, we wouldn’t plan a trip around it. I Prefer points are worth well under a cent each by most estimates, and Frequent Miler found that only about 310 hotels in its dataset offered both cash and points rates. That limits your options for using the points. The booking window closes October 31, and some terms, like eligible rates and caps, aren’t spelled out on the offer page. If you value elite recognition from a big chain, compare the full cost before giving up those benefits for I Prefer points. For travelers who like independent luxury hotels and were going to book one anyway, registering is free and takes a minute.
