The last fill-up before you return a rental at Dubai International is where travelers overpay, but not for the usual reason. In the UAE every station charges the same government-set price for the whole month, so there is no cheaper station to hunt for. What costs you money is the alternative: letting the rental agency refuel at its own rate, or prepaying a tank you will not use. Petrol in Dubai is still cheap by American standards, which makes a refuel surcharge look even worse in comparison. This guide gives you October’s fixed prices in US terms, the ENOC, EPPCO, Emarat and ADNOC stations within a few minutes of the Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 return areas, and the rental and Turo fuel rules.

Conversion: the dirham is pegged at AED 3.6725 per US dollar, and one US gallon is 3.785 litres, so AED 4.28 per litre works out to about $4.41 per gallon. For comparison, the AAA US national average for regular was $4.26 on October 21, 2026, so Dubai petrol is currently a shade above the American average after a sharp monthly increase. Stations near the airport

Because prices are identical everywhere, pick by convenience, not price. Rental cars at DXB are returned at the car-rental return zones in the Terminal 1 car park and in the Terminal 3 arrivals parking near Entrance 2, both off Airport Road (D89) in Al Garhoud; follow the “Car Rental” signs and keep your parking ticket. The stations below sit in Al Garhoud, Umm Ramool and Al Qusais, all within a few minutes of either terminal. Addresses in Dubai are given by street rather than number.

  • Emarat (Bustan), Casablanca Street, Al Garhoud: 24 hours, near Emirates Training College, the closest station to the Terminal 1 and 3 approach from Casablanca Street.
  • EPPCO Station 39, Casablanca Street, Al Garhoud: on the same road, an ENOC Group station.
  • ENOC, Marrakech Street, Al Garhoud: beside the RTA building, convenient from Al Garhoud and Deira.
  • ENOC 1001, Al Quds Street, opposite Emirates Engineering, and ENOC 1609, Al Quds Street, Al Twar 1: both 24 hours, on the Terminal 2 side, for travelers arriving from Sharjah or Al Qusais.
  • EPPCO Station 15, Nad Al Hamar Road, Al Rashidiya: about 10 minutes southeast, for travelers coming from Mirdif or Dubai Silicon Oasis.
  • Emarat, Al Nahda Street, Al Qusais 2: near Al Qusais Metro, on the approach from Al Nahda and Sharjah.

ADNOC also operates stations across Dubai, including in Al Qusais near the airport, but we could not confirm the exact street this update. All four brands sell the same grades at the same price; ENOC and EPPCO are part of the Dubai-government-owned ENOC Group, Emarat serves Dubai and the northern emirates, and ADNOC Distribution operates in all seven emirates. Many stations in Dubai still offer attendant service, so stay in the car and say the grade and “full.”

Rental refuel rules

The international agencies at DXB offer the same three choices as at home. Return it full and you pay only the pump price. Prepay a tank and you forfeit whatever is left; Hertz’s own fuel-purchase page states that no refund will be given for unused fuel. Let the agency refuel and you pay a combined fuel-and-service price. Because every station in the UAE charges the same amount, there is no “we found cheaper fuel” argument for prepaying; the only question is whether you want to stop, and with 24-hour stations on Casablanca Street and Al Quds Street two minutes from the terminals, you do.

Keep the receipt from your last fill. Some agencies check the fuel level against the mileage driven and may ask for proof of a fill-up on short rentals. On Turo, the host’s listing sets the fuel policy; Turo’s help center tells guests to refill to the check-in level and to photograph the fuel gauge at check-in and checkout, since hosts have 72 hours to invoice for missing fuel plus an inconvenience fee and the photos decide a dispute.

Local quirks

The UAE sets fuel prices once a month, nationwide. The federal government’s portal explains that petrol and diesel prices follow a mechanism linked to global product prices and are reviewed monthly by the Gasoline and Diesel Price Follow-up Committee chaired by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure; the new prices take effect on the first of the month and apply at every ENOC, EPPCO, Emarat and ADNOC pump in the country. That means GasBuddy-style price shopping is pointless in Dubai, and it means a rental picked up on September 30 and returned October 2 can cost noticeably more to fill than you expected, as it did this month when Special 95 jumped from AED 3.69 to AED 4.28. Check the current month’s price in the news before you budget. For the rest of the trip, see Dubai on Points.

Pay with the right card

Fuel abroad should still earn points, and it should never cost you a foreign transaction fee. Gas stations are a bonus category on several Chase Freedom cards, and the points move to Chase Ultimate Rewards; check the card’s foreign transaction fee before using it overseas. Our take

Do not think about price in Dubai; think about the stop. The Emarat and EPPCO on Casablanca Street are the natural last fill for Terminals 1 and 3, and the two ENOC stations on Al Quds Street cover the Terminal 2 side around the clock. Decline prepaid fuel, pay in dirhams on a card with no foreign transaction fee, and photograph the gauge before you hand over the keys.
